Leveling Up Your Instruction with Gamification

This workshop provides an introduction to gamification and gaming mechanics as ways to design more engaging instruction. Through gameplay, participants then learn to identify game mechanics, examine gamified instructional materials, and create their own gamified lessons. This workshop applies from K-12 to higher education, and it can be modified for any level of prior background knowledge.

Preventing & Managing Challenging Behaviors

This workshop provides an introduction to behavior management and understanding of main theories of behavior management. Participants then learn and practice identifying and evaluating problem behaviors and planning for behavior. Topics covered include: developing Behavior Intervention Plans, Functional Behavior Analysis, legal foundations of behavior management, data collection, and Positive Behavior Intervention Systems.

This workshop provides an overview of current uses of technology to support student learning and communicate with families.  Having a mobile device is a must for participants.

This workshop provides an overview of basic literacy principles, then provides strategies for teaching reading and writing.

Understanding and Implementing IEPs

This workshop will provide an overview of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Each part of the IEP will be discussed, along with tips for development and implementation.

This workshop provides an overview of task analysis and some hands-on practice in breaking tasks down into component parts.

Supporting Students with Disabilities in Academic Areas

This workshop offers strategies for supporting students with disabilities in inclusive settings with an emphasis on using Universal Design for Learning.

Universal Design for Learning

This workshop provides the fundamentals of UDL and gives specific examples of how UDL can be implemented in classes.  Time for designing lessons is provided.
Knowledge Level: Intermediate. UDL knowledge is not assumed, but knowledge of curriculum is needed.

Neurobiology and ADHD

This workshop includes a cursory review of the research on neuroscience, specifically as it relates to kids with ADHD, and then shares practical strategies for working with kids with ADHD.
